Yo Gabba Gabba Birthday Cake
Yo Gabba Gabba Birthday Cake
My daughter loves Yo Gabba Gabba - it's a fun and crazy show that teaches kids lots of things from not eating dirty food to don't bite your friends.
It was her 3rd birthday and I decided to make it special and make the cake myself this time. This way it would really be geared to her and no one else would have one exactly like it.
I just used a half sheet pan for the yellow cake - made from scratch using the Magnolia Birthday Cake recipe and my mom's recipe for frosting. When the cake was done and cooled I gave it a quick crumb coat and put it in the fridge overnight.
I decided to use DJ Lance Rock's Boom Box as the main image because it's where the show begins and ends and (maybe more importantly) it's easy to draw.
I mixed my frosting colors in different bowls and got to work. In total it must have taken me 3 hours to decorate the cake. It was a true labor of love.
When she saw it her eyes were as wide as saucers and sparkled with pure joy. All the work and effort was truly worth it.
