Yin Yang Cake
I made this cake for my son's 6th birthday. His party theme was Ninjas. The Yin Yang cake was simple and fit this Japanese theme very well.
I used 2 round cake pans of the same size and made one a vanilla cake and the other a chocolate cake. Once baked I cut the ying yang shape in both cakes. I then stacked the two vanilla pieces together and the two chocolate pieces together.
For the vanilla cake I used vanilla frosting between layers and then coated all sides with the vanilla frosting.
For the chocolate cake I used chocolate frosting between layers and then coated all sides with chocolate frosting. I then fitted the chocolate cake and vanilla cake together. Lastly I put the dot of chocolate frosting on the vanilla cake and dot of vanilla frosting on the chocolate cake.
The result was as pictured and it allowed the kids to pick a vanilla or chocolate piece. We found some Asian chocolate wafers with great Asian pictures stamped in them at a local Asian market and put them on the cake plate as a final touch.
Editor's Note: Great idea for a cake, Susan! Thanks for sharing the details on how you put it together.
