White Calla Lillies And Yellow Gerber Daisies
Our Calla Lilly - Gerbera Dream
My wedding cake was three layers, round, white cake, except for the top layer (ours for the anniversary, which was marble cake), with white fondant, with swiss dots. There were hand-made sugar flowers of white calla lillies and yellow gerbera daisies coming up and long one side of it, with a sprig on top.
It was mostly what I had generally imagined since I was small (the clasic shape, white cake with fondant), but the swiss dots were recommended by the artist herself, and the way the flowers for the cake were done was inspired by a cake from a book (pictured with orchids growing along the side, which we substituted with the callas and gerberas entwined with ivy). Our artist also formed small fondant pearls and placed them along the seams between the layers, and dusted them with an irridescent powder.
The cake was estimated to have been able to serve between 50 and 70 people, but as we also had an extravagant groom's cake (a southern tradition), there was more than enough to go around at our small reception!
I unfortunately don't know the exact price, b/c my folks footed the bill, but I know it wasn't cheap!
