Wedding Cake For A May Wedding

Wedding Cake For A May Wedding

My wedding cake was designed and made by my best friend who does professional wedding cakes for a living. It was her wedding gift to us.

My husband and I both love carrot cake, so the inside was homemade carrot cake. The frosting was a cream cheese frosting and she somehow made it to look like a basket weave. My theme was pink and white, so the cake topper was covered white lace, pink ribbon & tiny silk pink roses, apple blossoms and varigated ivy cascading down.

The topper cake was sitting on white pillars and there were regular size white silk roses and white lace and ribbon between. She arranged a few of the tiny pink roses here and there on the middle layer of the cake.

I'm not sure about the measurement size but I had 50 guests and there was enough left over for everyone to take some home. We kept the top cake and wrapped and froze it for our first wedding anniversary and it was just as good a year later as it was that day.

I told her at the time she offered to make it just to do something original and this cake was beautiful. I never picked out any design and never saw the cake before my wedding. You could tell it was made lovingly and the taste was better than any wedding cake I've ever had.
