Volcano And Dinosaur Birthday Cake

Volcano And Dinosaur Birthday Cake

My son Nate was turning three and loves playing with and pretending to be a dinosaur. I made the cake in a traditional 9x13x2 pan with white cake mix.

For the volcano I used small corning pans of different sizes and stacked them. I made homemade whipped cream icing and mixed the colors as needed. I cut out some cake for the river to add depth and colored that icing blue first. What was left of the icing I added yellow to make green for the grass. Then I had brown and red coloring for the volcano. I also used green food coloring to color shredded coconut to add some added texture to the grass.

I then used plastic dinosaurs and dinosaur candles for the decorations finishing the cake!! My son helped me put the dinosaurs on and LOVED the finished cake!
