Train Cake

Blueprint For Train Cake

Blueprint For Train Cake

My husband's family had a tradition of making special cakes on the kid's birthdays, so I decided to continue this tradition with our kids.

I chose to make my son a train cake for his 2 year birthday. I did not have to use a special pan. Instead, I used a pattern which showed me how to cut a traditional 9x13 cake and join the pieces together to make a train.

To prepare this cake:

Bake any flavor cake in a 13' x 9' x 2' cake pan. Cool and cut cake as shown in figure 1.

Place the pieces on a tray as shown in figure 2. Use string licorice to outline the window and for the spokes on the wheels. Marshmallows make the puffs of smoke. Use gumdrops for the center of the wheels and straws for the bars connecting the wheels. Finished size of cake is approximately 14" x 15".

Although I do have a picture, I have included the .jpg of the instructions.
