Thing Cakes From The Cat In The Hat

My son's birthday is a week before Halloween so I always tie his Halloween costume into his birthday party theme. This year he was Thing 1 from The Cat in the Hat so I made Thing 1 and Thing 2 cakes for this third birthday.

You can use any flavor mix that you want (I did one chocolate and 1 vanilla). A white vanilla or buttercream frosting works best. Just set some of the frosting aside and use food coloring to make the rest red or blue for the sides. Then you use black to write "Thing 1" and/or "Thing 2" on top.
