Teddy Bear Birthday Cake

I made this cake for a friend's daughter for her birthday. I knew she liked bears and bright colors. I used a Wilton baby bear with block cake pan. For this pan, it is best to use two box cake mixes. Follow the instructions on the packages and pour the double batter into the pan. It will be very full, so put the pan on a baking sheet in case of overflow when baking. Bake at 300 for approximately an hour. The cake will raise above the pan, but you will be able to level it off with a serrated blade knife.

Cool about twenty minutes and invert onto a cake board. Using your icing of choice, put a "crumb" layer on the bake, spreading with a knife and let it sit about ten minutes.

I decorated this entire cake with a star tip and a writing tip. Basically just cover the whole cake with stars and then outline in black/brown to make each area distintive.

This cake pan comes with an example picture like this, so it can help as a guide. Anyone who has used basic decorating tips and bags can do this cake! If you use storebought icing, you will have to add powdered sugar to stiffen up the icing. Have fun!
