Star Trek Enterprise Cake

Star Trek Enterprise Cake

Star Trek Enterprise Cake

Star Trek was the rage if you were growing up in the '80's. So what makes for a better cake than the Enterprise, especially for an 11 year old boy?

I made two round cakes and one rectangular cake. I left one circular cake whole and cut the other one to get a smaller circle and two half circles to attach to two small rectangular pieces made from the larger rectangular cake. (I think it's pretty clear in the photo)

I used Wilton concentrated color pasted rather than liquid food coloring, applying the color streaks by dragging colored frosting on toothpicks through the white base frosting. I piped frosting onto the round cakes to create the texture.

Hanging stars cut from foil were the perfect embellishments.

"...boldly go where no man's ever gone before."

Editor's Note: Thanks, Deb. That's a very creative cake and your description will help other moms when they try to make a Star Trek cake for their sons.
