Sprinkle Cake

It was my daughter's 8th birthday, and she really wanted a cake for her birthday like the kids on tv. We are really poor but I wanted to make her birthday extra special.

I prepared the cake from a mix that was on sale at the grocery store, but I forgot to get frosting. I did not want my daughter to be sad though so I walked back to the store to get frosting. The store was closed by the time I got there though, so I came back home and hid the unfrosted cake. We sang to my daughter and she seemed to have forgotten that she asked for a cake.

The next day, while she was at school, I went back to the grocery store and bought fancy frosting that came with sprinkles. I frosted the cake and set it in the bedroom. She came home from school and she was very upset that day since someone's mother said something mean about her shoes.

I suggested she take a nap before my husband came home from work to use the bed. When she walked into the room she saw the cake and screamed. I have never seen her so happy. I took this picture after we both had a slice, it was delicious.
