Spongebob Cupcake Cakes

My son's 5th birthday was the first birthday that he was able to pick and choose his own theme. And this year it was to be Spongebob! I've never liked the prefabricated cakes from the grocery store so I wanted to make one this year.

I found a cake pan for those enormous cupcake-cakes. I fell in love. For about $30-$35, i found it at Target and Michaels. I was expecting at least 20 people so I made 3 of these huge cupcake cakes. The mold was for a bottom and a top, which only needed one box of cake for the entire thing.

I decided on going with 3 different types of cake (Strawberry Cake/Strawberry Icing, Chocolate Cake/Chocolate Icing and Vanilla Cake/Vanilla Icing) I used food coloring to dye the vanilla icing to yellow for Spongebob edible cake candies.
