Spongebob Cake For A 4 Year Old

Spongebob Cake

Spongebob Cake

My boyfriend's little brother loves Spongebob. He was going to have his 4th birthday and his mom asked for ideas on a cake. I suggested that I could make it and I chose to do it of Spongebob. Of course I love to bake but I didn't have the means to do the entire cake from scratch. So I made the icing from scratch.

I used two Pillsbury yellow cake mixes and a 1/2 sheet retangular cake pan since Spongebob is retangular. And folowed the baking directions on the box.

To make the buttercream frosting I used:

1 bag powdered sugar
1 cup margerine
1 cup crisco
1 teaspoon vanilla

You use a hand blender to mix all the ingredients together until it blends smooth.

I used regular food coloring that you find on the baking aisle.

For the nose I used a bite size twix candy bar and covered it with yellow icing. For the eyes I used a top to a toddler's sippy cup without the nipple on it and filled it with icing on the cake to give it the round look.

The cake in itself really made the little one happy. He loved it. I was very pleased that I could really bake a cake and decorate it.
