About Me

Something Blue

I wanted to make my best friend's wedding extra special, so I volunteered to make the wedding cake.

It was a small reception, so I made two 8 inch 3 layer cakes, one chocolate, one vanilla, each covered in vanilla buttercream. I adapted cupcake recipes I found in the Magnolia Bakery cookbook.

I used basic 8 inch round pans I had in my kitchen, and used supplies found at Micheals to decorate.

I tinted the icing a deep blue and used silver luster powder mixed with vodka to "paint" the names of the couple on the cake. I used silver pillars to separate the layers, and filled the space between layers with white roses.
