Snoball Cake

Snoball Cake Snoball Cake Half Gone Zuccotto Pan

I made a giant version of the classic Hostess Snoball treat. I used a Zuccotto pan that makes a hollow dome. The cake is super rich devil's food cake. It came out really moist and delicious. The cake is filled with a creme made of shortening, margarine and confectioner's sugar. It was really really sweet but the shortening gave it a really authentic texture.

I coated the outside of the dome with marshmallow creme (fluff) and covered it with shredded coconut that I dyed pink to match the original cakes. I pressed the coconut into the cake to make sure it was really really covered.

The cake came out amazing and looked almost as good as it tasted. It was really neat to cut into the cake and be able to see all the layers. Everyone who tried it said it tasted much better than the original snack cake.
