Small Ceremonial Wedding Cake For Cutting
We opted to have a small, simple two tiered cake for the ceremony of cutting the cake. We went to a local grocery store and ordered a two layer round cake (I believe the diameters of the layers were 6 inches and 8 inches.) We had that cake frosted with plain white frosting and didn't say anything about it being a wedding cake (I swear you say "wedding cake" and the price jumps at least $100!) The day of the wedding I picked up the cake and just added some fake flowers I had left over from the flower girl baskets I decorated. The ceremonial cake cost less than $15.
Then I went to Costco and bought a couple of sheet cakes (which are super yummy and less than $15 each and feed a ton of people) to be cut and handed out to guests. So altogether we spent less than $50, got exactly what we wanted, had more than enough cake to go around, and we know that no one out there has the exact cake we did.
