Saucy Cranberry Dessert

Saucy Cranberry Dessert

2 c. flour
1 c. sugar
3 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. milk
3 Tblsp. butter, softened
1 tsp. vanilla
2 c.. raw whole cranberries, washed and drained

Butter Sauce
1 c. sugar
3/4 c. light cream or evaporated milk
1/2 c. of butter

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease (not oil) 9-inch square or 11x7-inch pan. In large bowl, blend first 7 ingredients at low speed until moistened. Beat 3 minutes at medium speed. Stir in cranberries. Pour into prepared pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 to 30 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean. In small saucepan, combine butter sauce ingredients; heat just to boiling. To serve, spoon hot butter sauce over dessert squares; if desired, pass additional sauce.
