Same gift every year?

When I was growing up each year my Grandmother would receive a fruitcake from Scotland, where she was from. Each year they would come in the same container, smell and look the same. After sooooo many years of receiving them, I could not even look at or be in the same room because I would get sick. The smell would just may me want to throw up. So after that she would never open them up.
