Retro Barbie Cake

This is my homemade Barbie cake. We made it for my grandmother's 50th birthday as a joke, but it ended up having sentimental value to her!

Instead of baking a dome shaped cake, we used several layers and shaved them to create the dress of the cake. To make the tiers of the dress, we piped on black frosting, to match the bodice of the dress.

We actually ended up cutting off Barbie's legs, so that the cake was not 'smooshed' while inserting them into the cake. The body was placed into the frosting and is supported by the thick icing.
