Red Velvet Wedding Cake With Buttercream Icing

Red Velvet Wedding Cake With Buttercream Icing

This is our beautiful wedding cake. It was a three-layer red velvet cake with buttercream icing; the filling was fresh fruits with whipped cream.

We purchased it from La Patisserie Cape May in Cape May, New Jersey; I believe we paid $7 a person for it. I would buy this cake again in an instant; it was easily the most amazing cake I've ever had, and numerous other people at our wedding made similar comments.

This particular cake served approximately 75 people, and we took the top layer home to freeze and eat on our one-year anniversary. It kept wonderfully in the freezer.

I selected this bakery based primarily on location, since our wedding reception was in Cape May. They have an extensive website with lots of pictures to choose from.

One we selected a style, we set up a tasting and got to pick three different kinds of cake to taste. Little did we know that the tasting actually involved the baker baking three CAKES for us to take home and share with our friends!

It was crazy. Everyone had a lot of fun trying everything out, and it was great that we had enough to share so that we could get our friends' opinions on what kind of cake to have.

The baker's website is lapatisseriecapemay.com, and we HIGHLY recommend them!
