Rainbow Birthday Cake

I saw a how-to for this cake on the Internet and knew my daughter would love it for her birthday. She turned 5 and got the shock of her life when I cut the innocuous looking white frosted cake and saw all the colors.

I used two small cake pans and separated out 6 bowls of cake mix, one for each color. Using gel food coloring I colored each bowl as brightly as I could, and then poured half of each color into one pan, in rainbow order, then the other half of each color in the other pan in the opposite order. Baked as usual, and voila! A rainbow cake!
