Poppy Seed Cake Recipe:Soak: poppy seeds and milk several hours or overnight.3/4 cup or less poppy seeds1 cup milkCream together: 1/2 cup sugar, 1/2 cup shortening, 1 tsp. vanillaSift together: 2 cups flour, 2 1/2 tsp. baking powder, 1/2 tsp. saltAdd soaked poppy seeds and milk mixture alternately with the flour mixture to the creamed sugar and shortening mixture.Beat 5 egg whites until stiff and fold in.Bake at 350 degrees F.until toothpick inserted incenter comes out clean (approx. 50 min.)
