Poppy Seed Cake Recipe

Poppy Seed Cake Recipe:

Soak: poppy seeds and milk several hours or overnight.

3/4 cup or less poppy seeds
1 cup milk

Cream together: 1/2 cup sugar, 1/2 cup shortening, 1 tsp. vanilla

Sift together: 2 cups flour, 2 1/2 tsp. baking powder, 1/2 tsp. salt

Add soaked poppy seeds and milk mixture alternately with the flour mixture to the creamed sugar and shortening mixture.

Beat 5 egg whites until stiff and fold in.

Bake at 350 degrees F.until toothpick inserted in
center comes out clean (approx. 50 min.)
