Pink Barbie Birthday Cake
"Make a pink Barbie birthday
cake and you will
create lifetime memories for your daughter!"
For her 5th birthday, my daughter asked for a "cake where you can eat the doll's dress." I decided to look on this site for ideas and found the princess cake. I bought the Wilton cake pan with the doll pick and made a fabulous cake for her. She loved it!
A couple of things you should know about the cake pan are as follows. 1) This cake requires two boxes of cake mix. 2) It only comes with a brunette doll. I ended up popping the head off of a Barbie doll and putting it on the doll pick instead. It was perfect.
I definitely think the hardest part was the icing. It took a really long time to get the entire cake iced the way I wanted it. I'm still not sure I covered it the way I would have liked. I did love the little flower details, which I made ahead of time and placed on the cake carefully with a toothpick. I also had a beautiful bow in the back of the dress that you can't see in the picture.
Mostly I like the fact that I can use this cake pan over and over with different doll heads and make all kinds of different cakes. You can make a character cake like Mary Poppins, or Ariel, Cinderella, Belle, whoever. I definitely think this pan was a great purchase. I got it with a 40 percent off coupon at Hobby Lobby.
