Pineapple Upside Down Birthday Cake

I made the cake for my boyfriend's birthday because he loves pineapple. I don't believe birthday cakes have to include frosting, just include things that the kid or person enjoys.

I used a cast iron pan to make the cake. I laid down the pineapple rings and put the cherries in the middle. Then I poured the batter over that. Once it was out of the oven all I had to do was flip it over and it came out perfect! I used a recipe from Alton Brown from foodtv.com.
