Penguin Cake Topper

I wanted something small and simple because we were having a relatively small ceremony. I don't like fondant icing, so we opted for buttercream icing.

It was made by a local bakery called Heidelberg Bakery. They had a lot of flavor options, and this one (yellow cake with raspberry jam filling) was our favorite.

We supplied the ribbon to match our colors, and we added the cake toppers. The penguins were a personal touch, I collected them as a child, and I didn't like the conventional bride and groom figures.

The cake served our 85 guests and left the top tier for us (but the slices were small, I didn't want the top tier kept, but the caterer messed that up). If they had cut the top tier it would have been 85 reasonable size slices.

It cost about $350.
