Orange Pour Cake

by Diane
(Green Bay, WI)

This is my great-grandmother's recipe. I still have the glass tube pan that she used to bake this cake!

1/2 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
2 eggs, beaten
2 c. flour
1/8 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
3/4 c. sour cream
1/2 c. raisins, cut up
1/2 c. pecans, chopped

Topping:
grated rind of 1 orange
1/2 c. orange juice
1/2 c. sugar

Preheat oven to 350. Grease tube pan.

Cream shortening and sugar, add eggs and beat well. In a separate bowl, combine flour, baking powder, salt, and baking soda. Add to first mixture alternately with sour cream. Sprinkle raisins and pecans with a little flour and toss to coat. Fold into batter.

Bake in greased tube pan for one hour.

Remove cake from oven. Leave in pan. Mix orange rind, orange juice, and sugar and pour over warm cake. Let cake stand until somewhat cooled and ready to serve. Invert onto a plate.
