One Up Mushroom Cupcakes
I made this cake for my husband's birthday. He loves Mario and Nintendo so I thought it would be neat to have a Nintendo themed party. The cake and cupcakes were the "icing on the cake."
For the actual cake I used a castle shaped bundt pan that I picked up at Walmart for about $12. Using a generic brand icing I decorated the edges of the castle once the cake cooled sufficiently.
The cupcakes were made to look like one-up mushroom. You can use any cake mix to make these but be sure to purchase white icing and green food dye. I mixed the icing and the dye to the proper shade of green and then iced the top of each cupcake.
I then used white chocolate chips that can be purchased at your local craft or baking store. The brand I bought are generally used for melting down and creating home made chocolate shapes.
Both the cupcakes and the cake were very easy to make and were a great conversation piece.
