Old-Fashioned First Birthday Cake

I made this cake for my son's first birthday in April. It is not terribly intricate or extravagant, as I was kind of hoping to achieve an old-fashioned, very homemade, charming type of feel. It was very well-received by the guests, though the birthday boy was not terribly interested in cake of any kind!

No special pan was used, I simply made two layers of yellow cake, chocolate frosting in between, with white frosting on all external surfaces. Blue, yellow, and red decorations adorned the white. Very simple, but cute.
