Non-cake Birthday "Cake"

I have been married for almost 20 years and during this time my spouse has only ever wanted an APPLE PIE for dessert! Not just any apple pie - but an apple pie with extra apple slices, a heavy serving of cinnamon, and a Dutch crumb topping. Served warm of course, with whip cream on top, occasionally a scoop of vanilla or cinammon ice cream, or even a thick slice of sharp cheddar cheese!

I do not know how or where the tradition of a birthday "cake" came from, but around my house we celebrate with a Non-cake Birthday "cake"!
