Nintendo DS Cake

Nintendo DS Cake

Nintendo DS Cake

For my nephew's 10th birthday he wanted to have a Nintendo Game Party. All of the children were bringing their game systems. He asked if I would make the cake and of course I accepted. For his cake, he wanted a Nintendo DS on top, chocolate cake and peanut butter icing.

The first thing I did was make a pan of Rice Krispy Treats. I cut the treats to the size of the DS and covered the treats in fondant to create the DS game. The details of the DS and the additional accents are made of fondant. I used my daughter's DS to make sure the size and features were realistic.

To make the cake I used a 9x13" pan and used simple chocolate fudge box mixes to fill it. After the cake cooled, I leveled it and iced the cake in peanut butter buttercream icing.

After the smoothing the icing, I then positioned the DS on the cake and held the top part of the game system up with lollipop sticks found at any craft store. After the toppers were positioned I piped in the Happy Birthday Wishes.
