Miracle Cake

I don't know where this cake got it's name but my grandma gave me this recipe. I used it for my daughter's first birthday.


4 2/3 Cups Sifted flour
4 1/2 Teaspoons baking powder
1/2 Teaspoon salt
1 Cup butter
2 Cups sugar
4 eggs, well beaten
1 1/2 Cups milk
2 Teaspoons vanilla

Sift flour once, measure, add baking powder and salt, and sift together three times. Cream butter thoroughly, add sugar gradually, and cream together until light and fluffy. Add eggs and mill well. Add flour, alternately with milk, a small amount at a time. Beat after each addition untill smooth. Add vanilla. Divide batter into greased 8-inch pans. Bake at 375 for 25 minutes or until done. Cool completely then frost.
