McLaughlin Wedding Cake

Our wedding cake was handmade by a woman who did catering and wedding cakes out of her home in Longview, TX. She came highly recommended from my cousins after doing their wedding cake.

The cake was three layers with traditional buttermilk icing. The top layer was carrot cake, the middle was chocolate and the bottom was vanilla.

I decided on the style by looking at pictures of previous cakes she had created. The cake was 12 inches bottom, 9 inches middle and 6 inches top layer.

It was supposed to feed 200 people and barely fed 150 people. We ran out of cake before everybody got a piece.

The cost was about $300. The lady was upset that we didn't cater the whole thing through her...so I feel she did a very poor job communicating with us and preparing our cake. I would strongly caution any bride about using private home catering for the cake.
