Mardi Gras King Cake

I bought a Mardi Gras King Cake from a place called Marguerite's Cakes, A Taste Of Heaven, in my hometown of Slidell, Louisiana yesterday. It was a plain cinnamon version of the tasty seasonal treat and I admit that it did taste heavenly.

Not sure if the bakery has a website, but they did have signs insude indicating that they ship king cakes all around the country. The small cake cost $10.99 and I think a medium was around $16.99. With packaging and shipping, the total cost is over $40, but it is worth it if you are a cake lover.

There are a lot of bakeries in the New Orleans area that make king cakes during the Mardi Gras season, but this was one of the best I have tasted.

If you order one, just freeze the part that you don't eat right away so you can enjoy this treat any time you want. When they are still fresh we like to cut a piece and microwave it for about 15 seconds with some butter on top.

Try that with a good cup of coffee and it's to die for!
