Lightning McQueen Cake

Lightning McQueen Cake

My son inspired me to make this Lightning McQueen cake. He loves the Disney movie Cars. Before his birthday we made a trip to a craft store and he chose Lightning McQueen from a large selection of cake pans. The cake was for my son's 2nd birthday!

A few preparation tips I have are to first, make sure you grease and flour the pan thoroughly! It is hard to see some of the detail of the cake even when it is greased properly! It was helpful to keep the picture of the decorated cake that came with the pan, next to me while I was working. I added more frosting to the straight piped edging lines at the very end. It added more depth and filled in the spaces.

I was able to work fairly quickly because I had multiple frosting bags and tips to work with. My frosting was a little runny once my hand had been squeezing on the bag. It was a lot of fun to make and my son loved it!
