LEGO Brick Cake

LEGO Brick Cake

LEGO Brick Cake

Using a purchased LEGO brick silicone cake pan, I baked several of the small cakes using a regular yellow cake recipe and allowed them to cool. I then melted purchased chocolate cake frosting in the microwave until I could spoon it over the LEGO cakes (it would have been difficult to frost around the 'buttons' on the top of the bricks and still make it clear what they were) to coat them. I then let them set in the refrigerator and then served.

I was inspired to make the cake because my daughter, who was just turning two, was just starting to play with Duplo bricks. She enjoys playing with them very much and I hoped she would recognize the shape of her cakes. She did, in fact, and said, "Brick!" when I served them.
