Hot Milk Sponge Cake

I absolutely love sponge cake. This recipe is from my grandmother's recipe box. I think she got it from either a church member or a neighbor named "Grit."


1 1/2 C sifted cake flour
1 1/2 t baking powder
3 eggs
1 1/2 C sugar
3/4 C liquified non fat dry milk
3 T butter
1 t. vanilla

Sift together the flour and baking powder then set aside. Beat eggs until think and lemon colored, gradually beat in sugar. Add sifted flour to egg mixture. Heat butter and milk until butter is melted. Stir into flour-egg mixture. Blend well and add vanilla. Bake at 350 degree oven for 25 to 30 minutes. Frost with chocolate icing.
