Homemade Wedding Cake

This is my sister's cake which my mom and I made. My mom baked flat sheet cakes in various sizes and froze them. I cut them and stacked them into the shapes you see. Put one layer of frosting to 'even it out.' You should really do two but I was in a hurry. Then I used fondant from the cake decorating section of a craft store (Hobby Lobby.) I used food coloring to color white frosting brown to make the branches, then stuck fake flowers all over. Used some tulle and more flowers to make the top layer pretty. Not bad for under $100, right?

Ask an artsy friend for help. To come up with this style I asked what their wedding colors were (pink and brown) then tried to think of something that color (cherry blossoms.) I used the stacked square shape because it seemed easy but looks fancy. Oh, and each layer has a square of foam board under it for support.
