Homemade Birthday Cake Ideas

"Make this birthday one they will remember forever!"

There are many wonderful homemade birthday cake ideas.

If you are a little creative you can create wonderful birthday cakes in your own kitchen.

For many people this may be more economical than purchasing one from your local bakery.

Balloon Bouquet Cake

A very cute idea for a young child's birthday is to create a balloon bouquet cake.

This is easy to do.

First bake 12-24 cupcakes from a box type cake mix.

Next color some white icing 3-5 different colors of your choosing. You can do this by adding a few drops of food coloring a stirring well. If you would like pastel colors add less. For brighter colors add more.

Now frost your cupcakes and arrange them on a white or contrasting colored poster board.

Now curl the ends of some ribbon with your scissors and bind them together with some more ribbon. You will need one long string for each cupcake that you have. The ribbon strings should be left long, about 24" or so. Remember you can trim the strings later.

Now take the strings and bring them up to the cupcakes and tape each one down underneath a cupcake. Start at the bottom and work your way to the top. This is a wonderful way to make a beautiful cake that is quick and easy.

American Flag Birthday Cake

For the patriot in your family you can create a delicious American flag birthday cake.

You will need one cake mix in your favorite flavor, one large tub of white icing or cool whip, strawberries and blueberries.

First bake your cake in a sheet pan and put the icing or cool whip on top.

Next arrange the blueberries in a small square at the upper left corner of the cake. These are to symbolize your stars.

Now cut the strawberries in half and arrange them in lines horizontally across the cake. These will be your stripes.

Enjoy!
