I made this heart shaped chocolate cake with vanilla icing and chocolate sprinkles for my eleven year old daughter's birthday. The heart shaped cake pans I used have been in my family for 40 years, and my mother used them when I was a little girl.
When baking cakes, I always use waxed paper cut out to line the bottom of the pans. It makes removing the cakes so much easier.
