Grooms Cake For A Poker Lover

Poker Grooms Cake

Poker Grooms Cake

I actually made this cake for my best friend's groom on their wedding day for a groom's cake (the new thing with weddings is to have 2 cakes, one for the groom and the other fancier for the bride). Anyway, they met in Las Vegas at a Black Jack table and found out they both went to school together back home. He has poker nights every week, so I thought of this great grooms cake.

The cake was small- and they actually didn't cut it because he wanted to keep it for the following poker night, but when they did eat it they loved it. It was a simple white cake I made from scratch with a homemade buttercream frosting. The fondant was marshmallow fondant and the suits and cards/poker chips were all gumpaste creations.

In all, I spent about $25 on this cake to make it from start to finish. It would cost a lot more if it were done by someone who wasn't a friend of the family's.
