Good Luck Cake

Good Luck Cake

Good Luck Cake

We've always had a tradition in my family of making "Good Luck" cakes for birthday cakes. The running joke is that you're so old, good luck telling anyone your age because they will think you're older. It's really cheesy, I know, but we come from an interesting family.

My girlfriend goes to Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, Texas, so I decided to make her a Good Luck cake for her 21st birthday. Their school colors are purple, white, and red. I decided to make it themed after their school. And then, a school-themed Good Luck cake was born.

All I used was 2 round size cake pans and red velvet cake mix. I had some royal icing, and just colored it to match their school colors. I bought one of the cheap piping kits from Wal-mart to make the roses around the base.
