Four Cakes For A One Year Old

I wanted my son's first birthday party to be a big deal. We had lots of people so I needed lots of cake. His theme was jungle safari so in keeping with that theme, I decided to make a giraffe, monkey, lion and a palm tree. I used special molded pans from Wilton for each except I had to make adjustments to the monkey one as I used a bear pan to make it.

I used my regular recipes for different kinds of cake, my monkey one was a chocolate banana, the palm tree was vanilla, the lion was chocolate and the giraffe was white with "sprinkles."

I can honestly say it was a big job and I likely will never make four cakes at once again, but it made him and the guests happy and that is what mattered.
