Football Cake

My son is absolutely obsessed with football. I was going to splurge and buy the football ice cream cake I saw in the grocery store but when I went for it, it was gone. As I was mixing the chocolate cake, I was inspired to make one of my own.

It was for his 11th birthday. No special pan was used, just a round one. Using a basic boxed cake mix, after it cooked, I cut it in a football shape. I took some of the cuttings to add height and frosted it all together with basic can of brown frosting and then made white with white confectioners sugar and shortening, put that in a plastic sandwich bag, but the tip and did all the white work.
