Earth Day Birthday Cake

My son Cody was born on Earth Day 1993. So for his 10th birthday party we decided to have an Earth Day birthday party. Everyone was asked to come in costume for the theme as a plant, an animal, or what have you.

We had prizes for best, most original and funniest costumes. The kids had a lot of fun with it (the parents too). Naturally I needed a cake to fit the theme and this is what I came up with.

I made a basic chocolate fudge cake with strawberries and whipped cream filling and a dark chocolate frosting in two 9" round pans and then decorated it with fake greens. Definitely one of my personal best.
