Dump Cake

A Dump Cake is just what the name means, you dump all the ingredients you can find into a baking tin and pop it into the oven and hey, your dessert is ready!

Dump Cake

There is little or no mixing required. The main ingredient is yellow mix. This is complemented by some fruit like peach, pineapple etc. and some nuts (walnut is best though you can add other nuts of your choice). The picture above shows one made with pecans, a Southern favorite.

Some popular variants are: chocolate cherry and blueberry, besides the most popular peach and pineapple versions.

It is best served warm with whipped cream.

This recipe has four ingredients, crushed pineapple, cherry pie filling, a packaged yellow mix and butter. It stays in the oven at 350 F for an hour until brown.

This recipe has the same ingredients as the one above, with the addition of 8 ounces of chopped walnuts.  The baking time is 35 or 40 minutes or until golden brown.
