Dora The Explorer Cake

Dora The Explorer Cake

My daughter just turned 3 and really wanted a Dora cake. For her actual birthday, I was able to create Dora's head (flat). She liked it, but got upset when we cut Dora's face. So for her birthday party, we thought of a Dora scene. The cake was complete with Dora and Boots. I also created a stream and a "big hill" with estrellas on top.

This was a Wilton 11x15 performance pan, it takes two cake mixes. The hill was created using half a cake mix in a small pyrex bowl. I tinted the icing blue first and made the stream. Then took all of the blue and added yellow until it was a nice grassy green. After icing the rest of the cake, I piped borders and drop flowers with candy centers to add color. The "sand" by the water is just crushed graham crackers. The stars by the 3 candles are lolly pops
