Dora the Explorer Cake

My daughter loved Dora the Explorer when she was 3 years old. I went online and printed a picture of Dora's head and placed it on top of a 11" x 13" sheet cake. I trimmed the cake to the same shape as the picture.

Then to make frosting the same shade as Dora's skin, I mixed some chocolate frosting in with regular buttercream until it was a nice coffee shade of brown. I then used chocolate frosting, and piped it on to make hair. The eyes and mouth were made with buttercream frosting, colored the appropriate shade.

I made the eyes & nose freehand by looking at a picture of Dora, and just taking my time. It was a lot of fun, and the kids at the party all loved it!
