Dinosaur Cake

For my son's third birthday I decided to make my own dinosaur cake for him since he loved dinosaurs at the time, and I like to bake. To make my job easier I used a regular 13 by 9 inch cake pan and store bought cake mix. I prepared the cake according to the package directions then let both layers cool in the refrigerator. I used two boxes of cake mix in order to have two layers.

Once they were cooled I filled the middle with ice cream, placed the other layer on top, and decorated the cake. I used green, red, and blue icing colors for the cake, and a chocolate cupcake as a volcano. I then placed small plastic toy dinosaurs on top along with dinosaur shaped candles. The cake was wonderful and my son loved it!
