Crying Birthday Cake

We called this the crying birthday cake. The decorations, which were put on the night before the birthday, were yellow. The cake was then put into the refrigerator. When we went to get the cake the next day to take it to the site of the party, the yellow cake decorations had turned red and melted.

We were sure how that happened, but it made for an interesting and unique birthday cake. I can assure you, however, that the "decorating malfunction" did not affect the taste one bit. The cake was delicious.
