Crown Cake

My daughter was approaching her seventh birthday, and her mother was away on business travel. The job of providing a cake fell to me, her Dad. I could have gone to the grocery store and bought a ready-made cake, but felt it would be more fun to make one together with my daughter.

Mandy was going through her "Princess Stage," so I thought it would be nice (and easy) to make a cake resembling a crown. There is nothing special about the cake or icing, but we added ice cream cones around the perimeter and topped the cake and each cone off with jewel-tone jellybeans.
