Cigar Box Cake
We had a 1920's murder mystery theme dinner and decided to make a cigar box cake to go with the theme. Everything is edible except the yellow paper lables on the cigars and of course the candles. I used chocolate fondant which holds its form much better than ordinary fondant and I didn't have to spend time colouring it as it was already dark brown. Bars of white fondant were rolled in thinly rolled out brown fondant. The lid was left to dry over 2 nights, but ended up cracking in the end anyway.
Dusting with icing help to keep things non stick, but you probably need a soft brush to dust it off with when the cake is ready.
